Today Shallaway put a wrap on the recording of the music of Ann and Seamus for a new CD. While the CD will not be available until the fall, the recording sessions allowed the music to be rehearsed to perfection for the upcoming tour.
Recordings are expensive undertakings and we have received a number of generous financial gifts to make this recording possible. We thank Katharine Smithrim and Alexander Sellars, Vern and Frieda Heinrichs, Alan and Jill Perry, and an anonymous donor for understanding the importance of this recording and believing in the young people Shallaway.
The choir has also been rehearsing for the world premiere of Christos Hatzis' Water, commissioned by Shallaway for the Songbridge project. Each participating choir in Songbridge must bring a new composition from their country so the piece can be taught to and performed by all the choirs together. We are thrilled that Christos Hatzis will be with us in Denmark to participate and share the experience.
The excitement within Shallaway is building and will come to a peak on July 15 when Ann and Seamus will be presented for the first time this year at the LSPU Hall.
